Introduction:
You are required to complete a series of Media-Enhanced Science Projects for your class this year. These projects will be small scale mini-projects, chosen by you from the categories below. You must choose 1 mini-project from each category and must have the approval of your teacher before finalizing your decision. New categories will be added as the year progresses, giving you more choices to pick from. Click on the link for each mini project to learn more about what it entails.
When planning the components of your project you must consider a topic which you will be studying. The mini-project should fall neatly under that topic, as a way that you will explore and communicate your learning to the group. Lets say, for example, that you wish to explore the science of Genetic Manipulation, or gene therapy. Your mini-project would showcase this topic in as creative and interesting a way as possible.
Parents: The mini-project choices outlined in these pages are accompanied with links to Web 2.0 tool websites. Nova Scotia Legislation prohibits teachers from requiring students to sign up for accounts submitting personal information overseas. It is understood that if students and parents choose to do this at home with supervision, that is their personal choice. I have made efforts to include project suggestions in each category that students can complete using conventional software on their home computer should they so choose, or that can be completed without a computer. In no way am I requiring students to use these tools, they have been linked as suggestions to consider only. If you have any questions or concerns with the structure of this major project, please speak to me immediately and we will decide together what is best for your student.
